No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

  2. Grats on transcribing.

First thing instantly noticed is your sleigh bell writing is off. It's just 8th notes, even though it perhaps sounds like what you notated.

In the beginning your missing a bassoon counter line, you can hear it if you focus on beat 3 & 4 youll hear it run up and such.

Also, kudos on the slur markings. I'm not that advanced to pick that up so I'm impressed with your ear on that. :D

  3. Dillon's right about the above - a long running line of staccato 8ths (also the sleigh bells - just straight 8ths, I think you over thought it).

Another thing I'd add: the high melodic voices are harmonized at the beginning (flutes in 3rds or 6ths I think), and there's another octave under what's written (I'm not at the piano) - probably Oboes like you wrote at m.5. Under all of that, there may be harp supporting the pizz strings on the broken arpeggios in m.1-4.

Contrabass, m.4 beat 4 is on the last 8th note of the bar. I also think the pizzicato transitions between low strings differently at m.7 based on the panning I hear in headphones (may not all be in the cello but also partially in the contrabass).

I hear more of the half note line voiced in the midrange of the orchestra in m.5-6, maybe VERY soft horns or violas. I don't hear the bass trombone you have here on the sustained C2.

Lastly, I don't hear the sort of measured tremolo-ish clarinet line you have from m.7-8. There's definitely something rhythmic going on in the background there, but I can't place it.

@Mattia Chiappa , you are definitely in the ballpark and it has the flavor of the first 20 seconds of the original captured very well. You can probably hunt through the original and re-voice a couple of things to dial it in further. Thanks for sharing it.

  4. Thank you Bradley, I was able to check with the score in the end :) I'm amazed you can hear all these, you got a few stuff right!
