No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Transcribing JW.

Discussion in 'Tips, Tricks & Talk' started by Claude Ruelle, Aug 5, 2017.

  1. Hello fellow composers,

So I started transcribing this cue from Hook:

My problem is that the score for this doesn't exist. Do you think it is still worth transcribing? Maybe someone here is experienced enough and will be able to tell me what I got right or wrong. Or maybe someone can suggest a similar piece in the classical repertoire?

Anyway, I'll try to post something here once I'm done transcribing.

I got you covered. Here's the full handwritten score.

It might be a little hard to read it and harder to find your way around it. I haven't gotten around to studying this one (and probably won't for quite some time, tons of other stuff I'm more interested in studying and which is in better condition) so I don't really know where "The Banquet is". I skimmed through, I can't seem to find "The Banquet" among the cue titles, which is probably because a lot of the times the title wasn't caught in the scan. There are also 4 pages missing from the score, I hope that's not part of it.

It has to be in there, though (I hope). There are some 27 - 50-page cues, it might be in one of those. It might take a couple of hours for you to hunt it down if you do wanna go through the trouble. Of the top of my head, I'd start by writing down the pages of the shorter pieces which have titles, I'm sure you can eliminate half of the document that way, and then try and identify "The Banquet" among the rest by a motif or something.

    Good luck :D

  3. Thanks Aaron,

I'll give it a look and see if I can find that cue.
