1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

The typical ostinato thing...

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Carlos Riesco, Sep 15, 2021.

  1. Maybe it's not so typical because I wasn't trying to be epic, but I needed to prove to myself that I could do a similar kind of stuff, with a string ostinato in the background. I did one minute, trying to keep it interesting with modulations because it's a simple idea, and at that moment I thought it was time to introduce new material so I finished it there. I do not intend to continue it, but if you have any kind of feedback it will be appreciated.

  2. Here is my first impression when listening:

0:20 I think it would be better to have some change here already. The direct repetition of the beginning of the idea felt a bit lame for me. I think we are ready for something new already, probably just orchestrational
    0:30 a welcome change
0:34 now you are taking a bit long doing nothing for my listening taste
    0:40 finally the melody again
0:50 also a welcome modulation and adding the piano here sounds cool

I think it's quite good for what you were trying to do.
However for me this is not a piece I would want to enjoy again and again. Maybe one time is enough for me here. But that was not your intention as I have understood you correctly. And it doesn't really have to be more than that.

Hope this feedback is valuable for you.
