No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

The Autumn Wind (for Cello & Piano)

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by George Streicher, Oct 14, 2020.

  1. In the spirit of the autumn season, here's a little duet for Piano & Cello I wrote.

  2. Awesome.

You know, one of the best things you have done in the past year, is the continuation of posting music with real people playing,

    Bravo !

    Sounds like Schubert.

    That said:

I am sad that there is not more exploration of the ideas you presented in this. To be totally honest, when I clicked on the piece I knew it would be short and sort of a
    trailer version of a composition.

I think it would be great to hear you take on a piece with a longer form. Say 12-15 minutes.

Additionally more complex idea. Not just for the sake of being complex. No, not at all. Just for maintaining interest.

To give an analogy, my Dad just bought the latest Corvette. He'll never go over the speed limit. Sort of tragic in a way.

Here are some pieces for solo Cello and Violin that are a single grade or 2 more in difficulty, yet still very much accessible songs. Just my suggestion

  3. Thanks, Doug! I absolutely agree and I'm actually considering expanding this piece to full orchestra and attempting a kind of Saint-Saƫns or Berlioz style "Halloween" piece in presentation, etc. I would love to explore developments with this simple little melody, I think it would be really fun to build it out in many different ways
