No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Hi Mike, I really appreciate that you shared the score. Thank you! It sounds so great, harmonically and the recording sounds great.

I think I remember from watching your videos that you have Berlin Strings, Adventure Strings, VSL and probably others. I am surprised that you picked Hollywood Strings, but you got such a great sound out of it that it was obviously a good choice.

    New Template???????

What are your other current favorite libraries?

  2. Thanks for sharing the chart, Mike. Much appreciated.

  3. Mike, when you chose to mark the bowings, I'd be curious to know the rationale? I know in Putting It All Together you said that the players largely ignore the bow markings and do their own thing, except when there is some specific quality intention behind the marking. Since you only had bowings marked 3 or 4 times, I imagine there was a specific reason?

  4. @Paul T McGraw Current template is, essentially, Hollywood Strings, Berlin Woods, Adventure Brass + Samplemodeling Tpt,Tbn,Hrn, Tuba, Spitfire and Hans Zimmer percussion, with some one-off additions here and there.

Jason, as with any "real" score, I forwarded this to my orchestrator and conductor, Neal Desby for proofreading, and we both felt that slurs were generally each going to be a bar in length. We both indeed defer to players, but we also provide a starting point to indicate intention. He happened to be with a violinist who made a couple specific recommendations, most notably bar 12. But of course, there's a good chance SOMETHING will be changed after the recording; this is true most of the time. There's always at least a thing or two which gets tweaked after it's been field tested.
