No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

String Quartet in B minor

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Joe Murphy, Oct 31, 2017.

  1. Hi Guys,

I've yet to post anything on here, but I've only recently decided to put more of an effort into getting my work out there and aim to get as much feedback as possible. This String Quartet was one of the very first pieces of music I ever wrote so I thought this would be one of the best to start with.
Recently went back and reworked it slightly, so if I could get any thoughts or advice on it that would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Very somber and atmospheric. I'm sure @Doug Gibson will be posting some specific advice. I would simply recommend listening to the Baber Adagio from his String Quartet Op. 11. I know of no piece of music more heart wrenching and beautiful than the Barber, There are a few equals but none exceed it in pathos in my view. Your piece is just fine as it is. If you want to make it better study the Barber.

  3. I am of course happy to offer my 2 cents. If the OP is 100% happy with the piece..... then congrats. If the OP has any questions regarding craft issues let me know.

I wish you all the best with your music, and hope you enjoy the composing process.
