Hi everybody! I'm very excited to share this piece I've written entirely on StaffPad. Once again, its power to write away from a "computer/keyboard" setup, brought me somewhere unexpected!
Here you can find the score and parts too: https://www.federicosolazzo.com/tides
This is another little story exploring the Yin and yang, the balance and interaction between water and air, shade and light, major and minor. Recorded in the same iconic studio and room where Ennio Morricone made 'Nuovo Cinema Paradiso' and Nino Rota 'The Godfather', this piece is the teaser of a bigger 15-20 min (3-4 movements) piece I plan to write soon.

String rec setup: 7,6,5,4,3. Very curious to know what you guys think about it!

PS: The room sounds truly fantastic (we've just added a bit of Bricasti Mechanics Hall) and those players are GREAT!

If you are interested in joining the next shared session (remotely or on location in Rome), check this post!

This is really beautiful Federico, I especially love the moment at 1:10, that drop in dynamics is a wonderful moment. Please keep us posted on the other movements, I would love to hear more.

This is definitely coming across, both in the dynamics and in the harmonies. My mind goes to Austin Wintory's soundtrack to the videogame Journey, which is one of my favorite game soundtracks. When directly compared the similarities are probably quite limited (certainly in terms of orchestration), but the vibe feels very similar in all the best ways. What I mean to say with this is that Reflections made me feel similar to a soundtrack I dearly love, and that's probably the highest possible praise I can give. I look forward to hearing the other movements. Thank you for sharing!

EDIT: Probably my association with Journey is because that score has some clearly Arvo Part inspired moments in it, and I see on your site that Part is also a source of inspiration to you.
