Ponchielli - Dance of the Hours

Discussion in 'Score Study Resources' started by Alexander Schiborr, Aug 2, 2019.

  1. Hej Guys,

Just wanted to share the awesome overture by Ponchielli - Dance of the Hours. That is imo a great track for score study and there are so many cool techniques for Woodwinds, String writing, Its all over the place. I wasn´t aware of that composer but somehow I knew the piece from listening somewhere on the classic channel. I think it is a great example of how you work with different colors, shifting orchestration, counterpoint, and dynamics.

I think on YT you will find different interpretations as well.

  2. It was used in both Fantasia and the comedy song Camp Grenada. A bit beyond cliche now, but the writing techniques remain equally interesting.
