No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Orchestral music exercise (Sibelius 6.2 with NotePerformer)

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Mike Marino, Aug 17, 2019.

  1. Hi All!

I've been working on writing a piece of orchestral music, mainly as a practice exercise to work on taking what I 'hear' in my brain and getting onto 'paper.' In this case I'm simply using Sibelius (6.2) along with NotePerformer. I'd love to get your takes/opinions/feedback as to where I can improve in my writing.

A couple of things with this exercise:
    * I was mainly trying to see what I could do using just a single theme.
    * I didn't add much percussion because (as a drummer/percussionist) my ears won't let me listen to their sounds, lol. Should I decide to program this into Logic with better libraries those parts will be added.

    Here's the piece:

    Thoughts? Please and thank you!

  2. Mike, you might want to post a pdf score since you did this in Sibelius. There's a guy here (I won't mention Doug by name) who absolutely can't resist physical scores and he really knows his stuff. He will likely be tempted to rip yours to shred giving tons of good orchestration advice. ;)

  3. Thanks Greg. I'll work on getting things cleaned up a bit as time permits, then post it.
