Mute your brass!

    I was writing a piece today and was switching between different mutes in Sample Modeling Brass. At some point I thought about how the VI went about making the mute sound.

    Then I got an idea.

    Since SM Brass is bone dry, I wondered if I could get an average curve for the tone difference between the clean sound and the muted sound and then apply that to Adventure Brass. The result was this:



    I'm sure you can apply this to any brass library. The filters are made with FabFilter Pro-Q 2. You can download them here.
