1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Mike Verta Scorepad

Discussion in 'Notation' started by Kit Karlson, Nov 3, 2018.

  1. Hey All,

Does anyone know if @Mike Verta every gave a link or specs for the scorepads he orders? Time to actually get some stuff on paper. Thanks!

  2. He did. He gets them custom made by what was Judy Green and is now All Print USA -https://www.jgmpaper.com/. He gave the pad number in a post somewhere and if I recall correctly you have to order a fairly large batch of them because they are custom. You might prefer to use one of their regular score pads to save money.

  3. Just use MuseScore https://musescore.org/ and create your own score pad, export it as a PDF in A3 format, go to your local copy-shop and print it out, or give them the PDF and order 1000 copies, it is much easier and cheaper. The industry standard paper is thicker, slightly colored and the format (hight and width) is custome, but you don‘t really need it, standard A3 white paper is working perfectly and everything you need.

  4. Yep, create your own with whatever instrumentation you want in Sibelius or MuseScore and print them in a local copy shop. I get mine for 3 cents a piece (doublesided plain A3), and they don't care if I order one or one hundred of them.

  5. I ended up making my own on 11x17 (sort of like A3). Any size up was a massive increase in price -- 11x17 here in Canada runs for about $0.15-0.30 a sheet, whereas A2 shot up to $1.25 a sheet (or something absurd like that) at Staples. The problem is a 33-staff page is pretty small on A3, so you really have to write carefully. Mike's scorepad is definitely way larger, judging by the length of his arm relative to the page. It's incredibly strange that I was barely able to find anything larger online -- almost any "score pad" you look up for custom printing or the like was in the ballpark of 8-15 staff at most.

  6. Thanks for all the tips. Just went to the copy shop and saved a bunch of money!

  7. Hey was gonna ask about this! I think Mike has his own customized ones from Judy Green Music - I was gonna go down that route too but I think the copy shop option seems much more practical.
