How you programmed Action Strings for double strokes

Discussion in 'How to Score a Film in 7 Days' started by Mike Worth, Oct 11, 2017.

  1. Hi, Mike!

I wanted to ask about your technique for doing string double strokes in the ID film.

About 1Hr 38 m in, you do an action cue. You composed a figure in the strings that's a double stroked rhythmic thing. You mentioned, "Oh, that's action strings there". I was wondering, what's your preferred way to utilize action strings to do those double strokes? Do you:

A: Load one of the action strings presets, that have the figure "programmed in", and lay it out on the cue?
B: Write single strokes to click, then quantize them, and then drag/copy to create double strokes?
C: Slow Tempo down, and freely play in each double stroke to a click?
    D: Something I hadn't thought of?

Any info you can give to help me out would be great, Mike, thank you! I'm working on an action cue for a thriller film right now, and I like the end result of what you got from the Action Strings... hoping to use them in my template for this film.

    Thank you, Mike!

    Mike
