No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Found a great series of books on Jazz piano for noobs like me.

  1. The books focus on teaching you the basics you need to know to improvise, each section starts with a brief introduction of some concepts which are then used in a sheet music example which you can play and improvise over and they get progressively more difficult throughout the books.

I cannot recommend them enough, before I was only using my keyboard as an input method for my DAW, now I spend time doing 12 bar blues improvs and working through the Real Book jazz standards.

If you want to learn Jazz and cannot get a teacher - get these.

If you do not see a reason to learn Jazz - get the All That Jazz class.
