First try at composing to picture

    I wanted to try to compose to picture, so I took a clip from youtube (a trailer to an animated series which was shown in some longer video, hence the guy at the start and end) and tried some stuff out.

    I really like the hit at time 0:21, when the guy's hat falls off! The transition when the carriage is first seen at time 0:26 is wonderful. What I would do differently; I would make the melody less "happy", and more macabre, especially after 0:58. Think "The Nightmare Before Christmas". I would do this by developing a melody that has some odd, unexpected notes, and perhaps by getting away from conventional harmonies.

    When you ended the melody by repeating the first phrase (0:09) it didn't sit quite right with me. I was expecting you would conclude the melody with something like (notes of the Cm scale) : 5-4-2-3-1. Then the next bar would stay on the I chord for the melody to start over. This would also give you can extra bar so there would be less stalling for time before the steak falls off the guy's head at 0:21 (great moment by the way)!

    Love the transition at 0:26 and change in mood to supernatural activity at 0:40. Not sure how I felt about the ending with the change to major. I completely get what you were going for but think it needs some work as it doesn't quite gel yet.

    The ending definitely seems to be the biggest problem.
    I recognized it as being a funny and goofy moment. But maybe it was too much.
