1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Sister to the inevitable "favorite 1911" thread, how about we extol the virtues of our youngest concealable sidearms?

Remember (and this should probably be in a sticky): edit out any serial numbers in your pics!
It's the wild, wide open internet out here and you never know who's lurking.

    I'll say I adore my CZ P-09.
I feel that it has more manageable muzzle flip compared to my Beretta M9A2 and Glock hand grenade 17, which my wrist appreciates, and looks quite sexy with its not-so-subtle angles and curves where they matter. An unfortunate side-effect of all that slavic cyber-brutalism makes the slide harder to grip with gloves - which is strange, since the oversized trigger guard hints that it was made for tactical tacky-tickly glove'd operators. My only knock against it, really.

It's all stock except that I picked up a threaded barrel for subsonic plinking shenanigans and fitted tritium sights for evenings at the range. Overall it's a bit big to carry, but still the one I like because it's got a hammer and I've been made paranoid enough for that to matter.

  2. What are the chances. I have a CZ P-09. Got it about a year and a half ago. I don't have the threaded barrel nor the tritium sights. The only thing I've added so far is arachni grip for the slide, since the slide doesn't have much real estate. I'm thinking about a light for the rail. I'm using the de-cocker configuration. It shoots great, and there's not much recoil. Sometimes I do wish I would have gotten the original all-metal version, as I don't like how forward heavy it is when the magazine starts to run low, but supposedly this has a better trigger. Putting it back together after a cleaning is no fun, but it's otherwise a great gun.I couldn't see carrying it except in a shit hits the fan scenario. My EDC is a S&W Bodyguard.

  3. Interesting because I had just acquired a new CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical. It's sitting at my FFL's place waiting for me to pick it up. Really looking forward to it...!

  4. It's settled then: Composers like CZ pistols.

  5. If we're talking "modern", Sig P320. Customizability, stock red dot, improvements on Glock design, etc. About the best thing the striker-fired world has to offer, IMO.

I have an affinity for "old" guns though. HK USP's are massive, clunky and over engineered but I can't get over them.

It was this picture that did it for me when I first saw it at age 12, complete with the mostly-useless Weaver stance:

Also this scene years later. No speeding up for this take, believe it or not (that's Michael Mann for you):
