No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Drama Intro/Dialogue scene

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Benjamin Sturley, Jan 19, 2018.

  1. Hi all,

Here's another recent one. This was a spec piece for a drama TV show. Premise: Documentary team is going to interview an older couple who are about to partake in an assisted suicide. 75% of the show is the documentary process, somber, and a bit creepy in the cinematography. At the end, the husband kills his wife via lethal gas, she wakes up 20 minutes later to find out she's immortal and her husband had killed himself.

The scene for this music is the top of the episode, the documentary crew arriving at the house, discussing their plan of action, and pensively meeting the older couple.

The struggle I found in writing this was how much to convey the darkness ahead. It needed to be dramatic and somber, but I wasn't fully confident on how to foreshadow the surprise at the end, if at all.

All thoughts and comments welcomed and appreciated, and I can post it with the video if desired.

    Thanks!
