1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Can I have some feedback?

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Bjarke Tan, May 21, 2021.

  1. Hey i was wondering if i could have some feedback. I was working on improving my "development" skills with this piece.

  2. I'm no expert here, but I'll try to give my honest opinion as a listener, I think there are too many different ideas and it was difficult for me to lock into any of them. Let me share how I interpret those ideas.

First statement right at the beginning, and a repetition/answer.
Then from 0.12 to 0.27 comes a new section, and at the end of this section I was expecting to listen again the idea from the beginning, but instead you introduce a new idea, that it's repeated at 0.40 until around 0.55.
So by now, we had only 1 minute of music, with 3 different ideas, and to my ears what is starting now at 0.55 is a new different idea again, kind of a transition to a another idea that begins at 1.07 and I think it goes to 1.43, where you present the idea from the beginning, but I have to tell you that I had to listen a few times back and forth to realize this idea was the same from the beginning because in between there was too much going on.

I think you can reorganize the different ideas in a way that they feel more connected and not to separated from each other. Maybe other people here can give more detailed feedback about the development of those themes, but I think the structure is also important to understand that development.
I'm sorry if was too hard, just wanted to be honest. I hope it helps.

  3. No worries and thanks for the feedback. You are absolutely right what you are saying. Something i have struggled with is to make everything feel connected. It’s a pretty hard skill.
