1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Any new Transcription Challenges planned?

Discussion in 'Info, Requests, etc.' started by Conor Brace, Dec 22, 2017.

  1. Has there been another since Galaxy Quest?

  2. I would be glad if another popped up: it's always motivating to know you're not the only one struggling on this kind of work ;-)

  3. no

  4. Some people have made their own challenge by trying to transcribe something I've done (because obviously I can get them the score, afterwards to check how they've done). That's how the Better Main Title class came about.

  5. My guess would be most people on here transcribe on a pretty regular base already, but having these 'communal' challenges could be the extra push people need (I mean, they're literally asking for it..).
The challenge is to pick one that's not too difficult and also kinda short; the theme for 'The Orville' seems like a good fit but perhaps a little too similar to the last one.

  6. Plus it sucks.

I'll try to think of a good one to do.

Somewhere in the latter half of The Mod Squad (I think?) you make an off-hand remark about how the theme from Contact would make a good transcription challenge. It's not in the breakdowns spreadsheet so I'll try to dig it up.

edit: it's Awful Waste of Space from Contact:

(The remark itself is indeed from The Mod Squad, around 4:21:27.)
