No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

My first short orchestral piece

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Maximus, Dec 19, 2018.

  1. Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum, really excited to be part of Redbanned. Last week I created my youtube channel where I will upload my orchestral pieces.
    This is the first one:

Hope you like it, wish you all the best and see you around the forum of course!!

  2. Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

As for the piece. Did you have specific intentions? The vibe you created was clear immediately. Very close/intimate presence and mournful. Nice job on that. But despite the acoustic proximity of all the instruments it came across as all background (musically) for something else that might be coming but didn't arrive. So I guess the question is whether that was intentional? If you are hearing a specific thread/melody in this piece that we as listeners should be focusing on, it may help to consider how to keep other elements out of the way as you go, either by dynamics and pitch range to enable some contrast for your focus element. If it's intended as backdrop only or just a vibe sketch, then mission accomplished. :) Hope this helps and looking forward to hearing more.

  3. Thank you John for your answer, is mainly a vibe piece but you are right, will keep in mind your advise for future tracks :)
    Wish you nice holidays!!
