No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

  1. Hi.

The scene was originally scored by Patrick Doyle. I wanted to put my self in his shoes and think what will I do when a director asked me to score this scene? I find it pretty helpful as a way to practice.

Feel free to share what you think regarding the composition, orchestration and the mix.

  2. I have not seen the movie or heard the music from the movie, so I can not compare.

I rarely find the use of choral samples effective but in this case, the voices work very well for me. The theme is good, the orchestration is good, and invokes a sense of magic, and fantasy. The harp works very well and I would recommend using it again toward the end of the cue. I would also bring the celeste out a bit more in the mix. Overall, I think it is well done and would be very plausible in a movie or TV show. Good work.

  3. Thank you for this invaluable feedback. I greatly appreciate every word you said and promise that you'll see better work in the future. Hopefully, in the next two weeks, I'll have my first live recorded session and I cannot wait to share it with you guys!

  4. Great concept, and it certainly fits to the picture faultlessly. I listened to it on a MacBook pro laptop, so with that limitation in mind a couple of things that came to mind were that I would have liked to hear more of a dynamic contrast when you hit the peak at around :21 and on my speakers the bassoon was a bit overbearing around :35. Perhaps another more fluid or softer bass line ?

I loved the musical idea though, it sits perfectly, and if this cue were to appear in the actual movie it would hit all the right buttons for me. Loved the strings running up to the climax at :17 to :21. This is also the perfect cue to give it large on the harp.

I love Disney music, usually with extra cheese, and I thought that this was great.

  5. Thank you, Mr. Michael.

From someone who is self-taught, I greatly appreciate your feedback about my work. As promised, I already have a sound engineer working on my session. Once he's done, make sure to check the feedback forum to see my latest work.

And there will be another session on January. My compositions always follow the same Disney-like style, so they are full of melodic lines and I cannot wait to share the work!
