No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Stereo Widening and Mono Mixing

Discussion in 'Tips, Tricks & Talk' started by Paul Salerno, Jan 24, 2018.

  1. In "Virtuosity" I believe Mike says he sends his strings and brass I believe to a widener bus. And on the widener bus he inverts the phase to stop phasing issues. So I have 2 related questions. Question 1.) Won't this screw up you Mono mix.
2.) How important is it to have a great your score sound great in mono when it is almost always going to be played in at least stereo. I understand that the mono mix is important for podcasts and other mediums that people often listen to on phone or laptop, but how important is the mono mix on a fix score?

  2. my advice would be to test the theory. There are plenty of plugins that let you test a mono mix, just chuck it on the master bus and see how it sounds.
