Thoughts on Noteperformer?

  1. Hi there,

    I've noticed a few people here are using Noteperformer. I've done some research and listened to a few demos :





    I quite like how it handles certain articulations, but sometimes I think it doesn't interpret things properly (it's a piece of software after all...) . Also in some places the balance feels a bit weird - But it might just be me.

    I'd like to know your thoughts. I feel like it could be a great tool for composers who want to improve their orchestration chops, without screwing themselves by trying to learn with a template that would be un-balanced.
     
  2. I love it. It helps me get an idea of how my full orchestrations will sound. I've sent noteperformer bounces to directors for proof of concept, and it's good enough for them to sign off on it.

    I think it helps me think about my articulations as well. I can hear the Noteperformer difference between a Tenuto and an accent, etc.

    Here's a NotePerformer proof of concept theme for a film I'm working on. I would never put it into a film, but it helps me sell the idea to the director.

  4. I appreciate it if other members would share their views on Noteperformer, as i consider buying it right now. At 130 it seems like a no brainer assuming it translates realistically.
     
  5. If you work a lot in Sibelius, I highly recommend it. There are other options (sound sets), but for the price and ease of set up you can't beat Noteperformer. It's not perfect but it can give you a pretty good idea of what the orchestration will sound like.

  6. I love NotePerformer. Of course it isn't as polished as what can be achieved with samples and a DAW, but it is the best notation based playback system.
