1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

    Hey guys!

We'll be doing a New Year's show this year on the 31st! It'll be a combo Uncle Bourbon/Unleashed, and Launch Party for our new Patreon site.

Tons of stuff coming including some fun interview podcasts and a new class format, and monthly Uncle Bourbon/Unleashed shows.

Posting this here before anywhere else - check it out:

  2. Well I'll be damned, 2024 is already looking to be pretty damn good already!

  3. Congrats, I think this is a good format, like what ScoreClub did some years ago.

So Diamond is $20/month and has 1 piece / week review, so less than $5 per piece even without counting unlimited class access and all the other stuff. Did you train an AI to do music critique :D? That's 52 individual critiques / year for $240! What!

I can't see how that's viable for you, even if you only spend 5 minutes on it. If 200 people subscribe, that's $4k/month before Patreon takes its cut, and you're now reviewing up to 200 pieces a week, spending time on content you cannot monetize further. At 15minutes/critique for listening, critiquing and sending, that's 50 hours/week.

Either you're committed to doing this full time (with all the other promises about content you made there) or the idea is that not everyone will put in a piece a week. Because if they do, either the quality will suffer because you're absolutely swamped or this will be, by a considerable margin, the best deal any composer-in-training could get anywhere ever.

  4. We'll see how the submissions go. As for the rest of the stuff, really the only thing that's changing is I'm letting people in on what I do 24/7 anyway. The content is all there, constantly, it just never goes anywhere. ;)

  5. the sounds you chose for those tiers are so great...!
(Of course I'm happy for these news, but those sounds really impressed me)

  6. I played those on a Diva patch from a library called "Directors Cut". The first is just a Dmaj add 9, the second is Emaj/D and the third is Bbmaj9/D. ;)

  7. very very nice, of course "Diamond" is the best chord, and with that bass added and the initial pad fade in... at beginning I thought was a completely different sound! A pleasure to listen!
    Hi to Draco too!!

  8. Woohoo!

Hey @Mike Verta : I'm sure you've done your due diligence on Patreon, but any particular reason for choosing it over Ko-Fi or similar? I've heard Patreon takes a fairly sizable percentage of payments.

  9. This is simply the best news - I now have the opportunity to cry myself to sleep at least once a month (jk)! I hope all the regular unleashed contributors sign up for this as 2024 is going to be a good year!

Also, when do we submit pieces for 31st? Will there be a Neal Desby interview coming? Anymore live composing videos (I can't tell you how useful they are)?

    Congrats Mike!
