1. Didja accidentally blow through the whole, "We're using our real names" thing on registration? No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

To The Rescue!

Discussion in 'Critique & Feedback' started by Duncan Formosa, Jan 31, 2021.

  1. Attempted to write a piece with the idea of a hero going off on adventure to rescue the love interest and then they venture off into the sunset.

Tried to make it sound like an old fashioned adventure theme.

  2. I think the composition itself is pretty good but I feel like there is too much focus on the brass and the rest of the orchestra is barely used and is in the background.
I think you shouldn't overuse a section too much there needs to be a fine balance of using each section instead of using only one as the main focus most of the time.

  3. I like it, reminds me of one of Mike's pieces from the brass masterclass. The performance feels a little stiff though, did you play it in or sequence it?

  4. I played it in. Performing has never really been my strong point. I'm hoping to get better at it with practice. Planning on trying to finish one piece at least once a month, just get some practice in. I've always said I never have the time to compose but looking back I think I just didn't push myself enough. Hopefully the composition and the performing stuff will improve drastically this year.
