    Hello Everyone,

I don´t know if you guys are interested into that, but I thought if we could do at least once in a while a little practise for us all here, and transcribe some great classic 80s Themes. So the process would be the following:

    - Talking and deciding on what theme we chose to transcribe.
    - Doing a basic piano reduction with melody Chords and Bass
    - Posting it here
    - Discussing / Talking about the harmonic language, Counterpoint, orchestration etc.

How about starting with the Dallas Theme?

Believe me: You won´t regret that study as it is gold. There is everything in you should know what makes a great catchy tune.

    Let me know your thoughts.

  2. Great, and if you dig, it's wild how the arrangement changed throughout all the seasons - I think there were 13 or 14 seasons.

  3. Yes, the different seasons showcase some changes in the theme. I will first stick to this one. I guess next week I am going sitdown and do a very basic transcription

  4. Ha ! Just found this thread this morning. When I was like 8 or 9 I used to hear this from the other room as my Dad ( I have no idea why) used to watch
this show every week. The show is so terrible it's great.

Sorry, I didn't have much time to work on this as I have as I have to get onto my gigs, but at least here is the first half. Hopefully get the ball rolling.

I can knock off the rest tomorrow morning if you wish. Cheers !

  6. Um..... yes, I know. But I thought it was going to be a thing were a few people transcribed it, and then shared notes.
As such I did not want to "give away" anything. However it looks like the thread has lost momentum.

Here is the short hand version I did that one morning.
