    Was just doing some more listening to the latest Star wars soundtrack. (Haven't seen the film) and was just getting started transcribing the cue "The Spark". It's a pretty cool cue actually.

    Anyhow.... question for Y'all. I can tell (I think) what the pitches are, but I am wondering if you think this "rub" of E and Eb is intentional at @ :16" ? It sounds like it could simply be Db min to C min with one person who is asleep. I don't know.

    Maybe he is in Hexachord land and doing that old min3, min2 thing. But it seems un-supported, kind of a half gesture.

    Let me know what you think... intentional, or a clam.

    @Doug Gibson. With that combination of throat and nasally timbre (trombones and bassoons, right) the dissonance stands out and is impossible to miss. If it were a mistake it would have been caught instantly in the room. My money is on intentional. Never underestimate the genius on the artist.

    Man those mics are close. You can hear every breath.

    Absolutely intentional, more on-the-nose than he usually would do for this, but that's got his approval stamp on it for sure.

    John was conducting, I don't think it flew past his head. I'd say intentional.

    There's an even bigger one at the beginning of ET.

    The whole orchestra is playing a big A major chord but for some reason all the bass instruments are playing C natural. I sure hope the copyist got fired!

    I like the Amaj over C actually, as well as Williams' general weird dissonance choices.
