No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Real Book

Discussion in 'Tips, Tricks & Talk' started by Rohann van Rensburg, Oct 25, 2017.

  1. Hi folks,

I know Mike mentioned picking up a Real Book for learning jazz piano in the All That Jazz class, but I can't for the life of me remember which edition he recommends (or why), and the rather long video is hard to scroll through to find specific parts.

Any suggestions (or personal suggestions, for that matter)?

  2. That's precisely why this was started, took me all of 5 seconds to look it up.

Too bad people seem to have forgotten about it and many classes still need volunteers,
So if you feel up to it... ;)

Anyway, the newer versions have a lot of songs taken out due to 'copyright issues',
5th edition is the one you want (you'll have to ''find'' it online since it no longer in print).
I still have a paper version that was given to me a long time ago (and is close to falling apart)

  3. There are PDF versions floating around. Send me a message.

  4. As they say in the US - If I were you, I'd take the Fifth.....

    Rohann van Rensburg likes this.
  5. Ah thank you, I had forgotten about that!
