No problem, just send me (Mike) a Conversation message and I'll get you sorted, by which I mean hammered-into-obedient-line because I'm SO about having a lot of individuality-destroying, oppressive shit all over my forum.

Unleashed VI

Discussion in 'The RedBanned Bar & Grill' started by Matthias Calis, Nov 28, 2019.

  1. Haha!

Could do with a bit of Kazoo to be honest! :D

  2. Mike Verta - Unleashed BINGO or DRINKING GAME(1).png

Had to make it quick and from the head (did not have my notes with me). Probably could be more accurate

  3. This is gold!!

  4. I'd love an Unleashed episode that was only for piano sketches.

It's a wild guess, however I think the submissions would drop by 80 percent.

Not that I think you need to load up your piano to sketch out and outline everything in detail, yet I have the impression there is some kind of fear by dealing with a piano and presenting some interesting ideas without any additional "sound". The thing is: Do you have really to say something?

Music is not always like that of course, there are sounds and vibes without any deeper development, and they bang the shit out of your soul.

  7. I sincerely hope there's another 16-hours-in-existential-crisis piece in there this year.

Submitted an old piece because I haven't been active composing the last few months. Hoping it will be a good kick in the pants. I really enjoy the critique of other pieces and agree that that's arguably the most valuable aspect of this. The most common these come out quickly.

I would love to see a piano-only submissions piece. The fact that submissions might drop shouldn't be a deterrent, and may even illustrate the amount of people truly willing to dig deeply into the craft (I know there are exceptions, but exceptions are just that). Maybe a mid-summer one if Mike is feeling really energetic.

PS -- @Alexander Schiborr Are you all done Master Deceiver yet? Track sounds awesome

  8. Thanks mate, was really a lot of work..really...
Yes, and no, Album almost so far yes. But there is so much on the to-do list:

    1. Press kit
    2. Art design
    3. Finding a distribution
    4. Creating physical copies (not sure how many..100, 200, 300?)
    5. Photos..

Also, I have a few vocal lines left for the very last songs which I have to record soon once my wife has revised the lyrics. But it is not much.

  9. Thank you.
Maybe I do one with the notes from this year and my old notes

But I think I f'd up with uploading my piece first and then the bingo drinking game thing (I put it in the dropbox).
Mike mentioned the bingo, but I haven't heard my piece. I think because of that or maybe I missed it and it is somewhere else and can't find it in the stream (we do sleep here in Europe some times).
I'll just watch the replay and check it.
And well, there is always next year!

    Have a good one!

  10. At least!! :D

However, I am working for a couple of days on a new track which is not really done..it needs further revisions and submitting unfinished early stage piano drafts for a later orchestration is not so much useful. I take a lot of time with each piece that I write often like weeks, sometimes months depending on the length and vision. Sometimes kicking parts, going back to drawingboard etc etc etc.

  11. Wonderful to see you are getting some time to write!

Just hit me up if/when you want any feedback on the piece above.

Yes, I will definitely consult you once I am at a stage..where I feel that it makes sense. And thank you..it feels good to be creative though with my current very limited time (you know why)

  13. Well, as expected my submission was thoroughly ripped :D. In hindsight, I probably need to do to a bit more transcribing and analysis before putting music out there, but what a fantastic learning experience. Thanks Mike!

Thank you so much, maestro Verta! Your Unleashed extravaganzas are super instructive. I’ve been picking up tips and refining how I think about composition from watching what you’re advising to each and every one who submits.

  16. There was an ambitious fellow who tracklisted the whole thing last year. Anyone interested?

  17. A fellow named Scamper did it this year. It’s in one of the YouTube comments.

  18. Awesome. Was it done for part 2?

  19. GIve me till tomorrow and it will be done.

  20. Rectification: I found my piece, after all, it is called words. Nice pointers that I can work with. Thanks guys (also in the chat).
