The idea is that you have a reference track for each instrument and you set the levels of your VST to that to get a perfect balance. I hate having to mess around with all the VST stuff so any way to make the process easier sounds great to me, and this sounds promising...But does it actually work?<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Question about string sections: Mike clarified before regarding divisi and how patches don&#039;t represent real sections. From what I recall, the idea is not to bother with divisi patches and simply stack voices, adjusting dynamics appropriately, as this is about the best approximation one can get at with samples.<br />
Mike also mentioned adding both sections of violins together on the same patch, rather than having to do the work of both sections. I can see why this is preferable, because this stuff...<br />

Mike said that he splits the channels into violins, violas, cellos and basses and that he does not use Haas ER for these groups. Also that violins are hard left and cellos hard right. <br />
But are they all summed into one string channel with both ER and reverb and perhaps also EQ curve or do we give them all individual reverbs and ER&#039;s ? <br />

I&#039;ve been using Adler&#039;s Orchestration to get a rough intra and inter-family balance, but now I&#039;m moving on to Z-depth (EQ, Reverb, Delay, etc.). I really like the dry sound for Jaws and the Tombstone theme, but I haven&#039;t been able to find anything reliable <i>and</i> readable. I considered Strauss&#039;s Also Sprach Zarathustra, but the brass instrumentation (6/4/3/2) is a bit heavy for what I&#039;m after.<br />
