I just finished Orchestration 3 and put together this quick cheat sheet. This will do you no good if you don't get the context from the class but this will quickly jar your memory if you are working and need a jumpstart. I did not put it in the official class breakdown since it doesn't have the time code but i figured someone will get some use out of it.

In the video a sample delay is used directly on the instrument track. The track is than sent to an altiverb.
I'm confused as to how this would create an early reflection. Would this not just be a pre delay? Or in the case of delaying just one side shift the stereo image. Wouldn't the sample delay have to be in parallel in order to create the illusion of early reflections? Also altiverb already has a built in early reflection module by default. It's not apparent from the video if this was...

During A Better Main Title Masterclass (actually I dig it a lot.. It was great), we discussed a lot about glue / pad for staccato lines. I am digging that idea and was experimenting about glue stuff. But same idea in orchestration came along (i believe for trombone chords in the first 45 min).. I was so sure that you were going to say it needs a glue but you instructed on the contrary that we shouldn't use glue there. So where to use a glue for staccato...

So, just went through the class, and there seems to be a lot of dismissing of "mouse head" artists; if you know about deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman), you know he works super hard - he streams his working on tracks live so everyone can follow it. Sure, he isn't super talented in terms of traditional writing, but he develops his themes and everything else just like we do. It's the same process, just different instruments I'm a big fan of his music, and have taken his masterclass as well, and him...
@Mike Verta
very good class so far, probably from the one I know from you the most well structured one, I have to say.
I am at 4 hours around and I did like 3 pages of notes. But anyways, what I want to ask you something. I have actually written a piece for 2 Handed piano and orchestrated it in the other threat (piece is called Homeride). While somehow I passed through the orchestrational process and I am somehow finding it ok, I stepped over a few things which have...

This may sound like a bit of a stupid question but can you develop the track/cue through added layers of orchestration?

For instance in the first of example in the masterclass where the whole orchestra is used (I think Mike calls is the Raiders preset), would you just use the whole "preset" from the start or add the different elements through various passes of the melody?

I.e start with the Brass orchestration on the first pass, then add the low strings on the second pass, then add the...
